Israel Plans Next Phase in War Against Hamas
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are gearing up for the next stage of their conflict with Hamas. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the IDF’s Chief of Staff, shared the news during a visit to soldiers in Gaza on Sunday.
Zamir announced that Israel will drive forward with “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” stressing the importance of maintaining momentum in their offensive. He mentioned, “We are set to approve the plan for our next steps in the war. Like in past operations in Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, we aim to reshape the security situation.”
He highlighted the focus on Gaza City and reiterated the commitment to defeating Hamas, keeping in mind the hostages taken during the conflict.

Zamir took the opportunity to express gratitude to the soldiers for their dedication and sacrifices over the past months and years, emphasizing that bringing home the hostages remains a top priority.
“They have been fighting for nearly two years, achieving significant victories that enhance the safety of those living near Gaza and all Israeli civilians. I am proud of your efforts,” he addressed the troops.
Notably, Zamir’s visit comes just a week after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans for Israel to occupy the Gaza Strip indefinitely following the war. The Security Cabinet has approved the initiative, allowing Defense Minister Israel Katz to enlist over 400,000 military reservists for the operation lasting until November 30.
