The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert on Saturday regarding a potential threat of a large-scale incident at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve. The embassy stated that there is a credible warning about this “mass casualty event” occurring today, October 31, at the museum, located at Dolskaya Ulitsa 1 in Moscow. The U.S. government is coordinating with Russian officials on how to respond.
People are advised to avoid the museum area, remain vigilant, and steer clear of large gatherings. This historic site, which was established in 1775 as a summer residence for Catherine the Great, is a favorite among both tourists and locals.
In 2022, the Tsaritsyno Museum attracted over two million visitors, according to Moscow’s deputy mayor, while its surrounding parks serve as a popular spot for jogging and dog walking.
The embassy also reminded individuals in Moscow to keep their mobile phones charged, stay aware of their surroundings, and consider their personal safety plans. This warning comes amid escalating tensions in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
In related news, a recent strike by Ukraine on a Russian oil refinery has ended a temporary pause in attacks on energy infrastructure, an arrangement suggested by former President Donald Trump. This followed reports of deadly drone and missile strikes carried out by Russia, which claimed the lives of at least 27 civilians in Ukraine.
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow has been contacted for more information on the alert. This situation is developing, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
