Zelenskyy Expresses Willingness to Halt Fighting for Peace in Ukraine

Zelenskyy Considers Front Line Stalemate to End Conflict with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed a willingness to consider freezing the current front lines in the ongoing war with Russia, aiming for an end to the years of conflict. In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Zelenskyy responded to a question about the possibility of accepting a peace agreement that would maintain much of Ukraine’s territory.

“Yes, we need to freeze things right now. This could be a real way to stop the war,” he stated. He referred to the concept as a ceasefire or a “stop killing” agreement, akin to what former President Donald Trump referenced.

Zelenskyy emphasized that a halt in fighting is the minimum requirement from Russia before he approaches European leaders for security guarantees. He articulated the urgent need for people who have lost their homes abroad to return to Ukraine to help rebuild their nation.

Despite past ceasefire attempts, Russia has often dismissed such proposals, suggesting they would allow Ukraine time to strengthen its military capabilities.

Zelenskyy noted that Russia frequently attacks Ukrainian territory, stating, “We are not losing this war, but we are losing lives. It’s tragic how our children and everyone else are affected.”

The Ukrainian leader’s comments come on a day when former President Trump facilitated the release of Stephen Hubbard, a retired American teacher detained in Russia since being accused of fighting as a mercenary for Ukraine.

In a sign of potential diplomatic developments, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated he is open to resuming trilateral negotiations with the U.S. and Ukraine after November 10, as reported by his foreign affairs adviser.

Zelenskyy concluded by expressing hope that allies in the U.S. and Europe would support Ukraine in its efforts to end the conflict swiftly.
