Jack Keane Backs Israel’s Military Action, Applauds Netanyahu’s UN Address

General Jack Keane, a senior strategic analyst, praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s impactful speech at the United Nations, supporting Israel’s military efforts amidst ongoing conflict. During a discussion with Brian Kilmeade, Keane emphasized Israel’s commitment to civilian safety and dismissed accusations of genocide. He also shared insights from his recent visit to the region, including observations on the extensive tunnel network utilized by Hamas. Keane criticized Hamas for its strategy of using human shields during the conflict.

Navi Pillay Wins Nobel Peace Prize for Advocacy of Justice

Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, a respected figure in law and justice who once led a UN commission that accused Israel of genocide against Gazans, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her dedication to promoting peace and international law. The Nobel Committee noted that strong global judicial systems are vital for addressing the increasing number of conflicts worldwide, highlighting the growing political attacks against judges and international law.

Pillay, who has had a distinguished career in law and human rights advocacy, has recently engaged in discussions about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Her insights have played a crucial role in interpreting complex legal situations surrounding the conflict.

Recent Tensions Between Israel and the UN

In response to recent accusations, Israel has claimed that the UN has unfairly placed it on the same list for sexual violence as Hamas. This escalates ongoing tensions between Israel and international bodies. Pillay chaired a commission that was formed in 2021 to address the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. After significant violence in October 2025, the commission alleged genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, explicitly naming Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as inciting such actions.

Pillay stated that there is an intent to eradicate the Palestinian population in Gaza through actions that align with the criteria outlined in the Genocide Convention. Meanwhile, Israeli officials have dismissed these findings as false and misleading.

Critics Question Nobel Committee’s Choice

Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, a lawyer from Israel’s Shurat HaDin Law Center, expressed skepticism about the Nobel Committee’s decision to bestow the award on Pillay. She stated that a peace prize should be given to those who foster peace, rather than those involved in undermining Israel’s standing in the global arena. Darshan-Leitner remarked that the Middle East remains fraught with conflict, contrary to the peace the award aims to celebrate.

Pillay’s Legal Journey and Impact

Born in South Africa to a Tamil Indian family, Pillay has left a significant mark on the world through her career in law. She was a key defender of anti-apartheid activists and made history as the first non-white woman to serve on the High Court of South Africa. Her work on the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda helped establish crucial legal precedents regarding sexual violence as a war crime.

After serving as a judge on the International Criminal Court, she took on the role of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and unequivocally criticized both Israel and Hamas for their actions during the 2014 Gaza conflict. Currently, she is serving as an ad hoc judge on the International Court of Justice, involved in addressing allegations of genocide against the Rohingya in Burma.

Pillay’s vast legal background and her commitment to justice continue to influence discussions on international law and human rights.
