Protesters in Delhi were seen banging on bus windows after being detained during an anti-government rally organized by The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
A video shared by the CJP on social media captured their founder, Abhijeet Dipke, along with other leaders being taken into custody shortly after they arrived in the city.
This protest movement began in May when India’s Chief Justice made a controversial comment comparing some unemployed youth to “cockroaches.”
Despite the Delhi police denying permission for the rally and deploying thousands of security personnel to block roads, the CJP was determined to move forward with the demonstration.
Reporting from Delhi, BBC correspondent Azadeh Moshiri provides insights into the motivations behind this latest protest.
