Cotton Yarn Prices Drop in Key Indian Markets
In recent developments, the prices of cotton yarn have seen a decline in the markets of Ludhiana and Delhi. This fall is attributed to payment issues, weak domestic demand, and cautious purchasing as the new-crop arrival season approaches.
The recycled yarn market in Panipat has also experienced limited buying activity. Manufacturers there are currently holding enough stock to meet festival demand but are uncertain about home textile export prospects.
Despite some recovery last week in cotton prices throughout northern India, they have eased again after reaching higher levels. This fluctuation has been influenced by trends in ICE cotton futures.
In Ludhiana specifically, cotton combed yarn prices have dropped, reflecting the struggles in the market. A local trader mentioned, “While spinning mills are receiving export orders, the domestic market remains quiet. The anticipated new crop is putting additional pressure on yarn prices.”
Currently, prices for cotton combed yarn in Ludhiana are approximately between ₹ to ₹ per kg (inclusive of GST), depending on the count. Information on specific count yarn prices remains subject to market fluctuations. For carded yarn, prices have also been noted to be around ₹ to ₹ per kg.
As buyers remain cautious and the new crop season looms, it’s clear that the cotton yarn market is facing a challenging period ahead.
