Prithvi Shaw and Akriti Agarwal Call Off Engagement
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his fiancée Akriti Agarwal have decided to end their engagement, just six months after they shared their happy news with the public. Akriti announced the separation on September 17, stating that the decision was mutual. She explained that both have realized they are heading in different directions regarding their future goals.
This announcement marks the end of a relationship that had garnered attention since their engagement was made public. Neither Shaw nor Agarwal have provided additional information about their breakup, as Akriti urged fans and followers to refrain from speculation.
In her Instagram post, Akriti said, “With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future. As much as we love and care for each other, we’ve come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward. I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

Shaw made headlines on March 8 when he proposed to Agarwal, sharing a series of heartwarming photos on social media. In one of the images, he is seen on one knee, presenting a ring to Agarwal, followed by cute pictures of them with their engagement rings. Shaw captured the moment with a sweet caption, saying, “From sixes on the field to a lifetime of hits off it. She’s my perfect innings!”
The couple was also seen together at several high-profile events, including the wedding celebrations of Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok in Mumbai.
Akriti Agarwal, originally from Lucknow, is a popular social media influencer and actress with over 3 million followers on Instagram. She has made a name for herself in the film industry, debuting in the movie “Trimukha.”
Shaw’s Cricket Journey Facing Challenges
This news comes at a time when Shaw is working hard to revive his cricket career. He made a spectacular entrance to international cricket in 2018, scoring 134 runs on his Test debut against the West Indies in Rajkot. At that moment, he became the youngest Indian player to score a century on debut.
However, his career faced setbacks. Earlier this month, the Mumbai cricket team excluded Shaw from their Ranji Trophy squad due to concerns over his fitness and training habits, as well as what the Mumbai Cricket Association referred to as “general conduct.”
His journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has also been challenging. Recently, Shaw went unsold twice at the auction despite his base price of Rs 75 lakh. Eventually, Delhi Capitals secured him in another round, but he did not feature in any matches during the tournament.
To date, Shaw has played five Tests, six One Day Internationals (ODIs), and one T20 International for India, accumulating 528 runs, including one century and two fifties. His last appearance for the national team was during a tour of Sri Lanka in 2021.
