Modi Heads to Uzbekistan for Key Talks
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his journey to Uzbekistan for an important state visit aimed at boosting ties with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Before leaving, Modi expressed his eagerness to engage in discussions with the Uzbek leader to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, digital connectivity, defense, and energy. He emphasized their shared aspirations for “Viksit Bharat,” or “Developed India,” and “Yangi Uzbekistan,” meaning “New Uzbekistan,” which are key agendas for both nations.
During his visit, Modi is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by President Mirziyoyev on Saturday. Following the dinner, he will have various bilateral meetings on Sunday at the Presidential Palace to discuss mutual interests in depth.
After his two-day engagement in Uzbekistan, Modi will proceed to the Kyrgyz Republic. There, he is set to participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, which will also include a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening relations between India and Uzbekistan and advancing broader regional cooperation.
