The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) has firmly denied recent claims regarding the dissolution of its Executive Committee. According to CINTAA, these reports are incorrect and lack any legal basis. The organization asserts that its elected Executive Committee is still operational and is following the guidelines set forth in its Constitution.
CINTAA clarified that its Constitution allows for the dissolution of the Executive Committee only if over half of its elected members resign. Since this requirement has not been met, the Executive Committee remains intact.
The organization also mentioned that any vacancies within the committee have been filled according to its rules. Members who received the next highest votes were selected to fill these positions.
Advocate Suvigya Vidyarthi, who represents CINTAA, emphasized that the notion of the committee being dissolved is misguided. He stated that the committee will only dissolve under specific conditions outlined in their Constitution, which is not currently the case.
CINTAA also expressed concerns regarding the involvement of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) in this situation. Vidyarthi argued that FWICE has attempted to overstep its authority, asserting that its actions are not recognized within CINTAA’s constitutional framework.
He reinforced that external influences cannot interfere with the internal governance of an independent trade union. The Executive Committee remains functional, and CINTAA continues to work towards the welfare of its members and to protect their rights.
Established in 1958, CINTAA has been a key representative of actors in various entertainment sectors, dealing with issues such as contract disputes and payment delays. The association reassured its members that it remains fully operational amidst confusion allegedly created by some dissatisfied individuals within the organization.
In a recent notice, CINTAA addressed these misunderstandings, stating that its Executive Committee is actively working for the betterment of its members and will defend its autonomy. The association emphasized that its long-standing history is committed to supporting actors facing various challenges in the industry.
