PM’s Foreign Adviser Cautions Against Anti-Bangladesh Activities from India
DHAKA, Aug 3, 2026 – Humaiun Kobir, the Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, has raised concerns about potential challenges to Bangladesh-India relations. During a meeting with newly appointed Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi, Kobir emphasized that any political activities planned by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, especially around the anniversary of her government’s removal on August 5, 2024, could harm ongoing positive developments between the two countries.
Kobir’s comments came during a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner at the Prime Minister’s Office. He warned that attempts by banned organizations to use Indian soil for political purposes against Bangladesh could also strain diplomatic ties.
The adviser expressed hope that India would prevent Sheikh Hasina and any associated individuals or groups from making political statements or conducting activities that could disrupt stability in Bangladesh.
Both Kobir and Trivedi discussed various aspects of the bilateral relationship and touched on issues of mutual importance. The Indian High Commissioner assured Kobir that New Delhi would pay careful attention to these matters and conduct necessary inquiries.
During their discussion, both sides expressed a shared desire to strengthen ties based on mutual respect and understanding. They acknowledged the importance of ongoing dialogue and constructive engagement, reaffirming their commitment to finding lasting solutions to any existing challenges.
