Three people lost their lives after a gunman opened fire in a busy shopping area of Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, as confirmed by a city spokesperson.
According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, the shooter is deceased, and there is no longer a threat to the community.
The situation unfolded around 2:30 p.m. local time near an In-N-Out Burger, in a busy commercial district, as noted by the city’s public information officer, Josh Palmer.
About an hour later, Palmer informed reporters that the shooter was no longer a threat.
During a news conference, Hicks mentioned that he was still gathering accurate information about the death toll, but Palmer later confirmed that three people had died, with at least two others injured.
The shooter was among the deceased, according to Hicks, who stated that police are investigating to identify the gunman and uncover the reasons behind the incident.
In the immediate aftermath, the Twin Falls Police Department announced on Facebook that nearby roads and a bridge had been closed for safety.
Twin Falls is a small city in the central region of Idaho, with a population of approximately 47,400 residents.
