Veteran Goalkeeper Vozinha Joins Chile’s Colo Colo
Cape Verde’s seasoned goalkeeper Vozinha is embarking on a new chapter in his career by joining the renowned Chilean club, Colo Colo. The club’s president, Anibal Mosa, shared this exciting development on Friday. At 40 years old, Vozinha has been without a team after leaving his previous club, Chaves, before he participated in the FIFA World Cup. He is expected to arrive in Chile soon for a medical check-up before officially signing his contract and being introduced at the iconic Estadio Monumental.
During the World Cup, Vozinha was rumored to join Inter Miami, where he could have played alongside the legendary Lionel Messi. After a thrilling match against Argentina, Vozinha revealed that Messi praised his performance, which deeply motivated him.
“I approached Messi after the match. He gave me a hug and said, ‘You are great. Your people should be proud of you,'” Vozinha recalled. He expressed how significant it was for him to receive such words from someone like Messi. Vozinha also requested a shirt swap, to which Messi agreed, promising to give him the jersey after his post-match interviews.
Prior to Colo Colo’s upcoming match against Deportes Limache, President Mosa commended Vozinha’s remarkable performances during the World Cup, which helped secure his transfer. He noted that this move will attract considerable attention to the club, not just for its athletic value.
While final details of the transfer are being finalized, Colo Colo has already stirred excitement among fans by teasing the deal on social media, featuring a silhouette resembling the experienced goalkeeper.
