Phoolan Set to Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival
On July 21, 2026, Prime Video announced that its original film, Phoolan, has been selected for a special presentation at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The festival is set to take place from September 10 to 20, 2026, with Phoolan scheduled to be showcased on September 16 at 6 PM ET, within the Princess of Wales Theatre.
The film is inspired by the autobiography I, Phoolan—the story of Phoolan Devi, one of India’s most infamous outlaws. It recounts a harrowing chapter from her life, where she becomes the target of an armed mob as they attempt to kill her in her village. This Hindi action drama is penned and directed by Richie Mehta, who has received critical acclaim for his previous works. The film is produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Kanwal Kohli, and Richie Mehta.
Sneha Kumari plays the lead role of Phoolan Devi and is joined by a talented cast that includes Anurag Thakur, Vikram Pratap Singh, Aakash Dahiya, Prateek Pachori, and Dev Dutt Budholiya, all of whom deliver powerful performances in their respective roles.
