Iranian Officials Claim Tehran Would Embrace a US Ground Invasion

Tensions Rise as Iran Prepares for Potential U.S. Ground Invasion

A senior Iranian official has stated that Iran has been preparing for a potential U.S. ground invasion for decades. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, who is often seen as a spokesman for the Iranian regime, claimed that Iran has recently launched a new missile and has strategically moved its arsenal underground to protect it from American airstrikes.

In an interview, Marandi expressed uncertainty about whether an invasion would happen soon, saying, “The Americans are planning an invasion, but we’ll see if they carry it out.” He noted that Iranian military activities are focused on regions like Bahrain and Kuwait, where significant U.S. military assets are located.

These remarks come amidst heightened conflict between the U.S. and Iran, which has seen missile strikes extended across western and southern Iran. Iran targeted U.S.-linked facilities in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain, leading to reported intercepts of missiles by Jordanian forces and damage to a power plant in Kuwait.

In response, the U.S. conducted airstrikes on Iranian positions, including key infrastructure and weapons storage sites. Explosions were also reported in Khorramabad, Iran, with Iranian media attributing them to U.S. missiles.

Marandi discussed Iran’s military strategy, emphasizing their use of a dispersed underground network. “When Iran launches missiles or drones, they don’t just leave them in one place. They spread them out to avoid mass bombing,” he explained.

This latest round of hostilities ended a recently established 60-day truce intended to facilitate nuclear discussions, with control over the critical Strait of Hormuz becoming a primary point of contention.

As tensions escalate, Marandi claimed that Iran is ready for further confrontations. “The Iranians have been preparing for a land war for decades,” he asserted, believing that a U.S. ground operation could ultimately work in Iran’s favor.

The ongoing situation indicates a precarious balance of power in the region, with both sides seemingly bracing for a possible escalation.
