Windows 10 Support Extended Until October 2027

Microsoft has made a significant announcement regarding Windows 10 support. Originally set to end on October 14, 2025, Microsoft will continue offering assistance through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program until October 2027. This extension comes as many users with older computers struggle to upgrade to Windows 11 due to its demanding system requirements. Initially, the plan was to provide support only until October 2026, but given the current circumstances, this extra time is a welcome relief for those who prefer to stick with Windows 10.

The company noted that this extension will help users transition to newer Windows 11 PCs, especially amid current shortages in RAM and SSD supplies, which have also raised prices significantly. For users unable to afford new computers or upgrades, this decision is particularly advantageous.

Apple Raises Prices on Mac and iPad Products

In a move that many anticipated, Apple has increased the prices of several of its products. The 14-inch MacBook Pro has jumped from $1,699 to $1,999. The larger 16-inch model now sells for $2,999, up from $2,499. Even the budget-friendly MacBook Neo, which began at $599, now costs $699, and the MacBook Air has seen a $200 rise to $1,299. The iMac and M4 Max Mac Studio are also more expensive, now priced at $1,499 and $2,499, respectively.

The iPad lineup has not escaped either, with the basic model now costing $349, an increase of $100. The iPad Mini and iPad Air have also seen price hikes of $100 and $150, bringing their prices to $599 and $749.

Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the price adjustments were necessary due to the ongoing shortages in components. While the prices of iPhones have remained stable for now, it raises questions about how long Apple can maintain current pricing levels.

Xbox Prices Set for Increase

Microsoft is following suit with its own price hikes for Xbox consoles. Over the last year, the company has raised its prices multiple times. The Xbox Series S, initially launched at $299, will now start at $499. The more powerful Series X will start at an even higher price of $749.99, with the disc drive model reaching $799.99.

Microsoft has cited a massive increase in storage and memory costs as the reason behind this decision. The new pricing will take effect from August 1, 2026. To help ease the financial burden, Microsoft is introducing a Buy Now, Pay Later program for buyers looking to purchase a console. Additionally, pre-owned Xbox consoles will be available at lower prices through retail partners. However, experts warn that the gaming industry may increasingly become a luxury.

GTA VI Pricing and Release Details

Take-Two Games has officially revealed the pricing for the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. The Standard Edition will be priced at $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition will set players back $99.99. Unlike its predecessors, the game will initially focus solely on single-player experience, with no online multiplayer available at launch.

For collectors, the physical edition will not include a disc; players will need to redeem a download code to access the game digitally. There are also complaints over exclusive content in the Ultimate Edition, as those who choose the Standard Edition will miss out on access to certain in-game stores.

GTA VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, though a PC version’s release date remains unclear.

YouTube Shorts Introduces New Features

YouTube has introduced several new features aimed at improving the experience for its Shorts users. One standout feature is “Clear Screen,” allowing viewers to watch videos without any buttons or text cluttering the interface.

Other enhancements include a new 2x speed option, which users can activate by holding down the edges of the screen. The dislike button has been removed, making way for a heart icon that viewers can tap to show their approval. If they find a video unappealing, users have the option to indicate “Not Interested” or “Don’t recommend this channel,” ensuring a more personalized feed.

These updates reflect YouTube’s effort to streamline its platform, catching up with similar features already popular on TikTok.
