Donald Trump Avenue Unveiled in Hyderabad
In a unique honor, a street in Hyderabad has been renamed ‘Donald Trump Avenue.’ This event was celebrated during the Freedom 250 festivities, which mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, along with Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, unveiled the plaque on June 23, 2026.
President Trump expressed his gratitude on his TruthSocial platform, highlighting the significance of this recognition. He stated, “The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — the first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you,” while also sharing a photo from the ceremony.
The initiative to rename roads in Hyderabad began in 2025, when Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced plans to honor notable individuals and corporate leaders. He suggested moving away from the tradition of naming streets after political figures. “We should have Google Street, Meta Street, or TCS Street,” he noted during a forum in November 2025.
The newly named avenue is situated in the Nanakramguda area, close to the U.S. Consulate and numerous American IT companies. This change symbolizes a shift towards recognizing contributions from various sectors in the vibrant tech hub of Hyderabad.
