President Trump Reveals New Limited-Edition US Passport to Celebrate Independence Day
WASHINGTON: On Friday, President Donald Trump announced a new design for a special US passport as part of the country’s celebration of its 250th anniversary of independence. The passport will feature a bold image of Trump himself.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump shared the mock-up of the passport with the tagline, “Welcome, but be good!” The design includes a serious-looking Trump leaning on his desk, with his signature prominently displayed. Behind him is the text of the Declaration of Independence.
The other side of the passport showcases a painting of the signing of the Declaration back in 1776, along with the label “United States of America 250.”
The White House also shared the passport image, labeling it as the “PATRIOT PASSPORT.”
Previously, the State Department announced that this commemorative passport, featuring custom artwork, would be available starting July 6. However, they have not responded to inquiries about the current status.
In April, officials indicated that these Trump-themed passports would only be obtainable through in-person appointments at the Washington office, and only while supplies last.
Trump has made a point to infuse his identity into various government institutions, including having banners with his name displayed outside many government buildings. Furthermore, his signature is set to appear on the one-dollar bill soon.
Interestingly, he will be the first sitting US president to be featured on official travel documents for Americans.
