India Successfully Tests Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile

On Monday, India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) marked a significant milestone by successfully testing its own Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). This achievement enhances the nation’s defense capabilities.

The test was conducted from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island near Odisha. According to reports, the missile met all its mission objectives, as confirmed by data collected from various tracking systems at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur.

The flight test demonstrated crucial technologies and showcased India’s expanding ability for long-range precision strikes. Senior officials from DRDO, along with representatives from the Indian Navy and Air Force, witnessed the launch. Among those present were the Defence Secretary, the Secretary of the Department of Defence (R&D), and the Chairman of DRDO, Rajesh Kumar Singh.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the DRDO team and industry partners for their hard work in making the flight test a success.

Notably, the LRLACM is fully produced in India, with all subsystems developed by various DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru led the project.

The successful test of the LRLACM also supports India’s vision for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, aiming for a more self-reliant national defense system.

Just two days prior, the DRDO completed three consecutive missile tests, showcasing India’s advanced capabilities in ballistic missile defense and anti-ship warfare. The Defence Minister highlighted that these advances position India among a select group of nations capable of effectively handling ballistic missile threats, including intercontinental ones. He also mentioned that the latest technologies were used to counter emerging missile threats, with successful demonstrations during the recent flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range.
