India Signs Missile Deal with Vietnam, Eyes Indonesia Partnership
NEW DELHI: India has entered into a significant agreement with Vietnam to supply BrahMos missiles, a product developed in collaboration with Russia. During a recent announcement, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh mentioned that India is also nearing a similar deal with Indonesia.
Singh emphasized India’s dedication to strengthening ties with ASEAN nations, although he did not provide further information about the specifics of the BrahMos agreements. His remarks were made at the Shangri-La Dialogue, a leading defense forum in Asia.
India has been focused on boosting its domestic defense production, not just for its own needs but also for international sales. The country has previously sold these advanced supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines.
Reports suggest that the deal with Vietnam could be valued at around 60 billion rupees (approximately $629 million), which would also include training and logistical support.
