During a recent inspection in Rehmanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Japanese officials found problems with the fumigation processes. While Japan’s share of Indian mangoes is relatively small, it still represents a significant market, with exports valued at around $1.54 million for the 2025-26 period. The Kesar variety from Gujarat has been the most popular choice among Japanese consumers.
