A recent video circulating on social media has brought attention to Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The footage allegedly shows him using an e-cigarette while traveling with his teammates to Hyderabad for an IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 8. In the clip, Chahal appears to be trying to hide his actions while sitting on the plane among other players. However, it’s important to note that the authenticity of this video hasn’t been verified, and e-cigarettes are illegal in India.

This incident isn’t the first time Chahal has faced scrutiny over smoking. Earlier this year, another video showed him smoking while driving, which sparked backlash from fans when he discarded a cigarette onto the road.

### Previous Issues with Vaping

This latest episode has reignited conversations about player conduct, especially concerning the rules around vaping in cricket. So far, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t commented on Chahal’s incident. Earlier this season, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag faced disciplinary action for allegedly using an e-cigarette during a match. He accepted responsibility and received a reprimand along with a fine of 25% of his match fees.

### Lifestyle Changes for Fitness

Interestingly, Chahal had recently shared that he was making efforts to improve his health and athletic performance, having quit alcohol over six months ago to set a positive example for younger players. At 35, he emphasizes his commitment to the game and his team: “I want to be more active and give my 150% for my team. As a senior player, I want others to learn from me,” he stated.

Chahal also mentioned the injuries he faced last season, which affected his performance in crucial matches. Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings are looking to regain their form, having lost three matches in a row. Their next challenge is against Delhi Capitals on May 11 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
