The dynamic trio from Madgaon Express is preparing for their next journey! Kunal Kemmu is set to start working on Madgaon Express 2, the follow-up to his directorial debut in 2024. Fans can look forward to Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary returning to their beloved roles.
Reports indicate that the sequel is currently in the early stages of production and is expected to begin filming around February or March 2027. Kemmu, who not only directed the first film but also wrote it, has completed the script for the sequel, fixing the screenplay about a month ago. A source revealed, “The three actors are excited to return to their cherished characters. If everything goes as planned, filming will start in early 2027.”
Kunal Kemmu aims to deepen the bond of the trio
The original Madgaon Express chronicled the adventures of childhood friends Pratik, played by Divyenndu, Ayush, portrayed by Pratik Gandhi, and Dhanush, enacted by Avinash Tiwary. Their long-anticipated trip to Goa took a wild turn with unexpected experiences involving drugs, crime, and even threats.
The film surprisingly resonated with audiences, largely due to the strong chemistry among the three leads and its humorous take on friendship. For the sequel, Kemmu plans to explore the existing themes further rather than just revisit the original situations. The narrative will once again focus on the three friends. The source added, “Kunal sees the sequel as a natural progression of their friendship and adventures.”
Upcoming Projects for Kunal Kemmu
Before diving into Madgaon Express 2, Kemmu will feature in another major project titled Vibe, which showcases a fresh chapter in his career. This film will star Preity Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava alongside Kemmu, who also takes on the director’s role.
Vibe is set to hit theaters on September 18.
