Kanpur Police File Chargesheet Against Businessman’s Son After Serious Accident
Kanpur: In a significant development, the Kanpur Police have submitted a detailed 200-page chargesheet against Shivam Mishra, the son of a local businessman. This follows an incident on February 8, where Shivam’s speeding Lamborghini left six people injured in the city.
According to the chargesheet, evidence from CCTV footage and statements from ten witnesses indicate that Shivam was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. The incident took place near Bhairavghat Crossing on VIP Road, where Shivam collided with a parked auto rickshaw and motorcycle before veering onto the footpath.
Witnesses reported that after the crash, angry bystanders broke a window of the car and pulled Shivam out. One of the injured, named Taufiq, filed a formal complaint against him with the police the day after the incident.
In a twist, Shivam’s driver, Mohan Lal, later claimed in court that he was behind the wheel during the accident. However, police reports maintain that Shivam was the one driving the car.
Following an investigation, police commissioner Raghubir Lal suspended the station in charge, Santosh Gaur, for negligence in handling the case. Shivam was arrested on February 12 and later appeared in court, where he was granted bail.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Atul Kumar Srivastava confirmed that the chargesheet has been officially filed in this case.
