Government Denies Claims of New Aadhaar Card Design

The Indian government has officially refuted rumors suggesting a new design for Aadhaar cards, labeling these claims as “unwanted confusion.” In a recent announcement from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, officials confirmed that there will be no changes to the current format of Aadhaar cards.

This clarification comes after various posts on social media and online reports suggested that a redesigned Aadhaar card featuring just a photo and a QR code would be released by the end of the year. The government emphasized that such information is incorrect and misleading, urging citizens to avoid falling for these false claims.

The statement from the Ministry reads, “There are misleading reports circulating suggesting that Aadhaar’s appearance may change. This is NOT CORRECT. There are no plans for any modifications. These rumors are creating unnecessary confusion among the public. We advise everyone to disregard such reports and to refer only to official communications from UIDAI or press releases from PIB.”

Current Status of Aadhaar Cards

The Aadhaar card, managed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), remains a vital identification document widely accepted for various government and private services, including subsidies and financial transactions. Officials reassured the public that the existing card design is still valid and functional, with no plans for it to be replaced.

The government has encouraged citizens to stay updated through official communications from UIDAI and PIB. Any information outside these trusted sources should be approached with caution.
