Court Grants Bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi in ‘Honeymoon Murder’ Case
Shillong: A local court in Shillong has granted bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the main suspect in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Cherrapunjee’s Sohra on May 23, 2025. The court’s decision was based on the police’s failure to clearly communicate the reasons for her arrest.
The Additional District Judge, Dashalene R. Kharbteng, approved bail with a bond of ₹50,000 and required a surety of the same amount. However, she must stay in Shillong and attend court hearings.
In response to the court’s ruling, Raja Raghuvanshi’s family has announced their intention to appeal the bail decision in a higher court. The victim’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, and his mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, expressed their distress, claiming that justice has not been served.
This was Sonam Raghuvanshi’s fourth attempt to secure bail in this case.
