Hardik Pandya Calls Out Mumbai Indians Fans After Disappointing Loss

Hardik Pandya, captain of the Mumbai Indians, expressed his frustration towards fans who appeared to support opposing teams during the IPL 2026. His comments came after a tough loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium.

Despite posting a massive total of 243 runs, the Mumbai Indians fell short once again, placing them at ninth on the points table with only two wins from eight matches. In his post-match discussion, Hardik not only assessed the team’s performance but also reflected on the crowd’s enthusiasm.

“I understand that we haven’t given fans many chances to back us. Yet, they have been amazing and loyal. It hurts to hear the opposition’s name chanted in our home ground. We need to deliver better to earn their love and trust,” Hardik stated.

His remarks highlight the growing discontent this season. The Mumbai Indians are not playing like the strong team they are known to be, leading to a shift in the atmosphere among fans. It was notably evident during a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore when the support for the opposition was unexpectedly loud.

How SRH Dominated MI at Home

Initially, the Mumbai Indians seemed to be in control of the match. Ryan Rickelton delivered a fantastic performance, finishing with an impressive 123 runs. Will Jacks supported him with 42 runs, and Hardik added 30 runs. However, some felt that MI left a few runs on the table, and against a solid SRH batting lineup, 243 runs were not entirely safe.

As the innings progressed, SRH did not hold back. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma got off to a strong start, and once they began their chase, the Mumbai bowlers struggled to regain control. Heinrich Klaasen maintained the momentum during the middle overs.

The Mumbai Indians’ bowling showed weakness throughout the match, with star bowler Jasprit Bumrah going wicketless and conceding 54 runs. Ultimately, SRH completed their chase of 244 runs comfortably, setting a record for the highest successful chase at Wankhede.

As the season continues, the Mumbai Indians will need to regroup and find ways to earn back the support of their fans.
