A Whimsical Journey Begins with “Dug Dug”
In an exciting announcement, first-time director Ritwik Pareek has released the trailer for his upcoming film, Dug Dug. This comedy-mystery takes viewers on a light-hearted exploration of themes like faith, magic, and reason. The engaging trailer was revealed by an impressive team of executive producers, including Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vasan Bala.
The storyline starts with a mysterious event: a villager’s death leads to strange occurrences surrounding his motorbike, which goes missing from a police station only to return at the exact spot of the tragedy. The plot thickens as the bike is rumored to grant wishes to those who pray to it and make offerings of alcohol.
Inspired by real-life events, Dug Dug showcases a curious village phenomenon where belief in the bike evolves into a fully-fledged, commercialized faith. The trailer delivers a vibrant mix of whimsical visuals and imaginative storytelling, brought to life through the creative lens of cinematographer Aditya S. Kumar.
Set to be released in theaters across India on May 8, Dug Dug is produced by Bottle Rocket Pictures, under the leadership of Prerna Pareek and Ritwik Pareek, in collaboration with Ranjan Singh’s Flip Films.
Following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Dug Dug has made waves at various international film festivals, including the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Featuring performances by Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni, Yogendra Singh, and Durga Lal Saini, this film promises to weave a story that blends laughter and intrigue, making it a must-watch this May.
