Russia Launches Attacks on Ukrainian Cities, Claiming 13 Lives

Overnight, Russia carried out missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and various other cities, resulting in the deaths of 13 individuals, including a 12-year-old child. Many others were injured, with significant damage reported to buildings, according to officials on Thursday.

In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that four people, among them the young child, lost their lives. In the southern city of Odesa, seven fatalities were reported, alongside a tragic incident in Dnipro, where regional authorities noted two deaths as Russian strikes set residential buildings on fire. Klitschko mentioned that 45 residents in Kyiv were injured during the assaults.

Kyiv faced another attack early Thursday morning, with a drone reportedly crashing into an 18-story building. Ukraine’s emergency services later confirmed that five people had died in the capital.

Images shared online displayed chaotic scenes, with flames raging and thick smoke rising into the sky. Klitschko reported that rescuers managed to save a mother and her child from a severely damaged building in a central area. Additionally, he noted that missile debris struck the sixth floor of an apartment building in the bustling Podil district. A significant fire also erupted in the northern part of the capital, injuring four emergency workers and causing debris to fall in multiple locations.

Odesa and Dnipro Under Siege

In Odesa, seven individuals were killed and 11 more were wounded during the missile and drone onslaught. Serhiy Lysak, head of the local military administration, shared details about multiple waves of attacks that hit both infrastructure and residential areas.

In Dnipro, Regional Governor Oleksandr Ganzha confirmed two fatalities and reported 27 injuries, posting images of burning residential buildings. Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, authorities stated that two people were injured due to drone strikes.

The ongoing violence has left many in fear, highlighting the urgent need for safety and support amidst the continuing conflict.
