Shale Crescent USA Promotes Natural Gas Benefits to Global Businesses
Shale Crescent USA is on a mission to showcase the advantages of establishing businesses in the Ohio River Valley, leveraging the area’s abundant natural gas resources. As this nonprofit organization travels internationally, they emphasize how low natural gas prices can significantly boost manufacturing efficiency.
Operating in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Shale Crescent USA highlights several key factors on why this region is ideal for business growth. The area boasts a large supply of natural gas, ready access to water, and is strategically located near half the population of the U.S. and Canada. It also fulfills 70% of the U.S. polyethylene and 77% of polypropylene demand.
Recently, Shale Crescent participated in a series of U.S. Commercial Services Roadshows in Europe, where they connected with over 200 international companies eager to explore business opportunities in the United States. This initiative included visits to cities in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France.
Despite being in a prominent gas-producing region, many foreign businesses often overlook this area. As Greg Kozera, the organization’s marketing director, noted, “They know where major cities are, but often don’t realize the significance of our region.” He stressed its historical importance in the oil and gas industry and pointed out that manufacturing in this area benefits from both energy resources and a skilled workforce.
During discussions with potential partners, Shale Crescent’s representatives work to make connections between foreign companies and local businesses. For instance, they recently assisted a small manufacturer from France looking to enter the U.S. market, helping them find a local partner.
Shale Crescent President Nathan Lord emphasized the importance of natural gas for international manufacturers, explaining that they rely on it as a primary resource for production, rather than just for heating. “What we offer is a supply of natural gas that allows companies to operate more profitably,” he stated.
The organization actively promotes itself as an attractive option for energy-intensive manufacturers. Many companies express interest in the charm of smaller communities, where they are welcomed and supported, especially in areas with a strong manufacturing legacy.
Living in a community with rich natural resources and a peaceful environment is appealing, especially for those coming from urban areas. Kozera explained that many industrialists seek a quieter life, yearning to be “the big fish in a small pond.” Even a company bringing around 70-80 jobs could have a significant impact on smaller towns like Parkersburg.
As Shale Crescent USA continues to spread awareness of the region’s opportunities, they are keen to highlight that, if it were a country, this area would rank as the third-largest natural gas producer globally. This revelation often surprises international businesses, who typically associate large gas reserves with Texas.
Kozera reiterated the strategic advantages of manufacturing in the area, stating, “If you’re in manufacturing and need energy, this is the place to be.” Through research and effective marketing materials, Shale Crescent USA aims to prove the profitability of manufacturing in the region compared to global competitors.
With a strong emphasis on community involvement and local workforce development, Shale Crescent USA looks to cultivate job growth and economic prosperity throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley, promoting the area’s rich industrial capabilities and abundant energy resources.
