Strengthening Energy Ties: US and India Discuss Future Cooperation
In a move to boost energy relations, US Ambassador Sergio Gor met with India’s Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday. This meeting comes just a day after a phone conversation between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.
The timing of this meeting is significant, as ongoing conflicts in West Asia have impacted India’s energy supplies from its traditional Gulf partners. Over the past year, India has notably increased its energy imports from the US, especially while negotiating trade agreements with Washington.
Gor highlighted the discussions on social media, stating that their meeting aimed to enhance the US-India energy partnership. He mentioned, “We talked about strengthening energy security and unlocking new opportunities for growth. Access to reliable American energy will deepen our economic ties and support long-term energy security for both countries.”
This dialogue sets the stage for an upcoming visit by an Indian delegation to the United States next week, signaling further collaboration between the two nations in the energy sector.
