Nora Fatehi has recently spoken out about the controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar” from the upcoming film KD: The Devil. The song’s Hindi version faced backlash for its explicit lyrics, leading to significant criticism on social media.
Featuring Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, the track was taken down from YouTube due to the uproar, even though it had already gained massive attention. Directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, this film is set to hit theaters on April 30, 2026, in several languages.
In a video posted on Instagram, Fatehi expressed that she was unaware of the Hindi version or its content. She shared that she originally recorded the song three years ago in Kannada, drawn to it because of its connection to a major project and Dutt’s involvement. At that time, the details shared with her did not raise any red flags, as she relied on translations provided during filming.
Fatehi mentioned that she was not consulted about creating the Hindi version and did not give permission for her images to be used. She also highlighted her concerns about the use of unapproved visuals in the music video while noting that an AI-generated image featuring herself and Dutt was used without consent.
After viewing the Hindi version at an event, she expressed her worries to the director, expecting backlash due to the nature of the lyrics. Fatehi stated, “I disassociated myself with the project,” choosing not to promote the song.
In her video caption, she emphasized that she does not endorse the content and urged viewers to refrain from sharing the track, as it would only increase its visibility. She also addressed the personal criticism she received, explaining that it was unfortunate and clarifying that she did not have control over the final product.
Fatehi pointed out the challenges artists face in such scenarios and stressed the importance of accountability for filmmakers and content creators. While she has enjoyed positive collaborations in the Hindi film industry, there have been times when her feedback was overlooked.
She concluded by stating that she and her team would be more vigilant in the future, acknowledging that public reaction was instrumental in getting the song removed.
KD: The Devil, produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions, also features Shilpa Shetty, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and Jisshu Sengupta. With this controversy generating buzz ahead of its release, the film is now drawing heightened attention regarding its promotional material.
