Operation Epic Fury Unveiled Following Breakdown of Iran Nuclear Negotiations, Says Vance

Negotiations Crumble Between U.S. and Iran on Nuclear Program

Vice President JD Vance announced on Monday that talks between the United States and Iran regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions have failed. U.S. officials found Tehran’s explanations to be unconvincing, leading President Donald Trump to initiate Operation Epic Fury.

On the program “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Vance highlighted that U.S. representatives, including Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Jared Kushner, were engaged in ongoing discussions in Geneva with Iranian officials. The goal was to limit Iran’s nuclear activities in return for easing economic sanctions, but these discussions ultimately did not succeed.

Vance pointed out that Iranian officials insisted on the need for uranium enrichment for civilian energy purposes, claiming it’s a matter of national pride. He responded, questioning why Iran was constructing enrichment facilities deep underground and enriching uranium to levels much higher than necessary for civilian use. “It’s hard to believe they only want this for medical purposes while building facilities that could support nuclear weapons,” he stated.

The ongoing Operation Epic Fury marks its third day, during which U.S. and Israeli forces conducted precise strikes deep inside Iran, targeting its missile and nuclear capabilities. Concerns are high as Iran has been enriching uranium to concentrations around 60%, nearing weapons-grade levels, which eschews international safety protocols established in the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Vance asserted that during Trump’s presidency, efforts were made to significantly reduce Iran’s capability to develop a nuclear weapon. “We made substantial progress, but the President desired a firm assurance that Iran would never pursue a nuclear weapon,” he explained.

Looking to the future, Vance emphasized Trump’s aim for a peaceful resolution and stability in the region. Trump, he noted, is committed to ensuring that Iran cannot acquire a nuclear weapon for the long term, to prevent the U.S. from becoming entangled in an ongoing conflict without a clear resolution.
