Mexican Forces Take Down Cartel Leader El Mencho, Seize Heavy Firepower
In a significant operation on Sunday, Mexican forces killed Ruben “Nemesio” Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). This raid highlighted the alarming military-grade weapons the cartel has accumulated over the years, including rocket launchers capable of downing aircraft.
The CJNG has a troubling history of using such firepower in direct confrontations with authorities. One notable incident occurred in 2015 when cartel gunmen shot down a Mexican military helicopter with rocket-propelled grenades, marking a dramatic shift in how authorities viewed the cartel’s capabilities.
