Chanel and Kering Lead Unsecured Creditors of Saks Global Following Bankruptcy Filing

In a significant retail event, Saks Global, a well-known U.S. department store, has filed for bankruptcy protection. The court documents reveal that French luxury giants Chanel and Kering, the parent company of Gucci, are at the forefront of unsecured creditors. Chanel has claims amounting to $136 million (€116 million), while Kering’s claims stand at $60 million.

This bankruptcy marks one of the largest retail failures we’ve seen in recent years. With Saks Global now in this financial turmoil, the implications for its future and its relationships with major luxury brands are yet to unfold.
