Air India Issues Travel Advisory Amid Iran Airspace Closure
Air India has released a travel advisory, alerting passengers to potential delays. This comes as the airline adjusts its flight paths following the closure of Iranian airspace.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Air India explained, “Due to the current situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace for safety reasons, our flights operating over this region are taking alternative routes, which may result in delays.” The airline also noted that some flights that cannot be rerouted will be canceled, urging travelers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
Air India expressed its regret for the inconvenience, emphasizing, “The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority.” This advisory follows reports of unrest in Iran, which has limited airspace access to only those flights with official government permissions.
Additionally, reports indicate that the airspace closure will be in effect for over two hours, lasting until approximately 7:30 PM ET, although it could be extended further.
U.S. officials have also noted a withdrawal of some personnel from military bases in the Middle East amidst rising tensions, following warnings from Iranian officials regarding potential actions against American sites.
Similarly, IndiGo Airlines has issued a comparable advisory regarding the airspace closure, stating, “Due to this sudden development, some of our international flights will be affected.” The airline acknowledged the situation was beyond its control and apologized for the disruption. Affected travelers are encouraged to visit IndiGo’s website for information on flexible rebooking options.
The airlines are committed to keeping their passengers informed throughout this evolving situation.
