The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is welcoming a new leader to its team focused on marketing and branding.
Sources report that Marques Zak, who has been leading multicultural marketing efforts at American Express, will be named the ACC’s first chief marketing and brand officer. The official announcement is anticipated to be made on Wednesday.
In his new role, Zak will be responsible for shaping the ACC’s brand strategy, which includes plans for digital outreach, social media, and live events. He will work closely with Commissioner Jim Phillips and will be part of the conference’s executive team.
Zak’s career at American Express saw him create the company’s first major multicultural marketing initiative. He has also held high-level roles at PepsiCo and started his professional path as a consultant at Deloitte, concentrating on mergers and acquisitions.
He graduated from Morehouse College, where he was the captain of the track and field team, and later earned an MBA from Cornell University.
The ACC enlisted the help of DHR Global for the search that led to Zak’s appointment.
