Sikh Delegation Meets PM Modi to Discuss Safeguarding ‘Jore Sahib’
New Delhi: A Sikh delegation, including Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to discuss the protection and display of the “Jore Sahib,” a significant pair of shoes once belonging to Guru Gobind Singh and his wife.
After the meeting, Modi remarked that these sacred items will motivate future generations to embrace the values of bravery, justice, and harmony as exemplified by the 10th Guru of the Sikhs. He noted on social media that such relics are integral to Sikh history and the broader cultural landscape of the nation.
Minister Puri shared that his family has been caretakers of these relics for more than 300 years, a tradition that began when Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur entrusted them to his ancestor. Puri emphasized the importance of preserving such symbols of faith for the welfare of future generations.
The gathering also featured a heartfelt performance of the ‘Mool Mantra’ by singer Harshdeep Kaur, who shared that the Prime Minister requested her to sing the spiritual hymn ‘Ik Onkar.’
