White House Envoy Steve Witkoff Urges Swift Release of All Gaza Hostages This Week

Efforts Intensify for Hostage Release During Gaza Crisis

White House special envoy Steve Witkoff is advocating for the safe return of all hostages from Gaza this week. However, talks with Hamas seem to be stalled.

In an interview, Witkoff emphasized the urgency, stating, “We want all our hostages back this week,” aligning with the President’s wishes. He mentioned an ongoing deal to free ten of the twenty hostages believed to still be alive, pointing fingers at Hamas for the delays. “Hamas has been slow in this process,” he added.

Despite negotiations, reports indicate that the Israeli security cabinet has not agreed to discuss the hostage deal. Witkoff confirmed that Israel’s stance is clear: no ceasefire unless all hostages return.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which advocates for the families of those captured, expressed hope for a resolution, emphasizing the need for urgent action. They highlighted, “Time is running out, and we must finalize this deal to bring our loved ones home.”

Protests demanding the return of all hostages are underway in Israel, with around 350,000 people participating in a rally in Tel Aviv. Families of hostages are calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to expedite negotiations.

Witkoff mentioned that while restoring hostages is a priority, discussions about Gaza’s future can occur afterward, though Israel is committed to dismantling Hamas.

Fifty hostages remain captive, with only twenty confirmed alive. Former President Donald Trump recently projected that the conflict in Gaza could reach a resolution within the next few weeks, urging timely action from leaders.

Additionally, Witkoff announced that Trump will convene a meeting at the White House to discuss post-conflict plans for Gaza. Details about participants in the meeting remain unclear, but a White House official reiterated the President’s commitment to achieving peace in the region.
