Europe’s Central Bank Likely to Keep Rates Steady in September
Officials at the European Central Bank (ECB) are leaning towards keeping interest rates unchanged in September. Sources who wish to remain anonymous indicate that the recent trade agreement between Brussels and Washington isn’t expected to create significant economic issues.
In the previous month, the ECB maintained rates at 2%. Since then, both economic growth and inflation have progressed mostly as anticipated in the ECB’s June forecast. This forecast predicted a decline in price pressures by 2026, with a return to the target inflation rate of 2% in 2027.
As discussions continue, ECB officials appear confident that the current economic environment remains stable, allowing for this decision.
