Indian Embassies Around the World Mark Independence Day with Captivating Cultural Festivities

Celebrating India’s 79th Independence Day Across the Globe

Santiago, Aug 16 — Indian missions worldwide marked the country’s 79th Independence Day with lively events that highlighted India’s rich culture and strong connections.

In Chile, the Indian Embassy in Santiago celebrated enthusiastically. Indian Ambassador Abhilasha Joshi proudly hoisted the national flag and shared President Droupadi Murmu’s address, along with key points from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, emphasizing India’s growth and global partnerships as it aims for a developed nation by 2047.

The event buzzed with patriotic spirit, gathering over 300 members of the Indian community and friends in Chile. The atmosphere was filled with the sound of the national anthem, and guests enjoyed a variety of delicious Indian dishes that showcased the country’s culinary depth. The event served to strengthen the cultural ties and commitment to India’s progress among the diaspora.

In the United States, the Indian Consulate General in New York organized a special program titled “Shakti—Divine Energy.” This event showcased various classical dance forms including Odissi, Bharatanatyam, and Kathakali, performed by talented artists from India and the US. It was part of the 44th Annual Battery Dance Festival, marking a celebration of culture and creativity that bonds India with the world.

In Houston, Consul General D.C. Manjunath joined local officials and community members at an event marking the occasion at India House, reflecting a strong presence of the Indian-American community.

Meanwhile, in Guyana, the High Commission and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Georgetown celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm, drawing participation from the local Indian community, students, and business people.

In Trinidad and Tobago, the High Commission in Port of Spain conducted a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Co-operation. This event was well-attended by the Indian diaspora and included cultural performances that celebrated India’s rich heritage.

Overall, these celebrations around the globe reinforced the unity and shared values of the Indian community, reflecting their commitment to India’s journey and growth.
