Many families celebrate the special bond between brothers and sisters during Raksha Bandhan, a festival that highlights love and protection. A common practice is sending rakhis (sacred threads) to brothers who live far away. Sisters often mail these rakhis weeks in advance to ensure they arrive on time. Thanks to reliable postal services like India Post and various courier companies, rakhis can be sent to countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Canada without much hassle.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav noted that around 1.5 lakh rakhis were dispatched overseas this year, showing how this cherished tradition has spread beyond Indian borders. In return, brothers often send gifts, sweets, or even e-vouchers, helping to keep the festive spirit alive and strong, no matter the distance.
