Parents Leave Son at Barcelona Airport Due to Expired Passport
A couple faced criticism after reportedly leaving their 10-year-old son at Barcelona’s airport because his passport had expired. This incident occurred at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport as they were about to board a flight to their home country.
According to reports, a terminal worker named Lilian shared the story in a TikTok video. She explained that the child was unable to fly due to an expired passport, which also required a visa that they did not have. Instead of waiting for a relative to pick him up, the parents chose to board their flight.
The young boy was found alone at the airport by staff who quickly notified the authorities. He informed airport personnel that his parents were on their way home for a vacation. Contact was made with the plane’s pilot, who confirmed that there was a child left in the terminal.
When the workers asked passengers if anyone had left a child behind, no one responded. Eventually, the parents, who had another younger child with them, were located. They were taken to a police station to be reunited with their son.
Lilian expressed her disbelief at the situation, questioning how parents could leave their child behind for documentation issues. She pointed out the risks involved, noting that the relative they called could have taken a long time to arrive while the parents boarded the flight calmly.
As of now, it is unclear if the parents will face any legal consequences or what their nationality is.
