Andre Russell to Retire from International Cricket After T20I Series Against Australia
The cricket world is gearing up as West Indies star Andre Russell announced he will retire from international cricket following the first T20I match against Australia on Wednesday, July 16. The matches will take place at Sabina Park in Jamaica, which is Russell’s home ground, on July 20 and 22.
Russell’s retirement follows closely on the heels of Nicholas Pooran’s exit from the game, and it happens just seven months before the upcoming men’s T20I World Cup set for India and Sri Lanka. The explosive all-rounder has been a key player for the West Indies, contributing to their T20 World Cup victories in 2012 and 2016. Over his international career, he has earned 84 caps.
In the T20I format, Russell has scored 1,078 runs and taken 61 wickets. He also played one Test match way back in 2010 and participated in 70 ODIs, accumulating 1,034 runs and 70 wickets.

Having spent 15 years representing the West Indies, Russell shared that it has been one of his proudest achievements. He expressed joy in being able to retire at home, surrounded by family and friends.
