Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti Set for July 4 Release

A new film featuring Akshaye Khanna, titled Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti, is set to hit theatres on July 4, 2025. The movie presents a gripping portrayal of the tragic terrorist attack on the Akshardham Temple in Gujarat in 2002.

Directed by Ken Ghosh, the film aims to capture the horror of that dark day and the bravery shown by the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos who worked bravely to respond to the attack. Based on true events, it promises a mix of suspense, patriotism, and action.

To celebrate the announcement, the film’s team shared a striking new poster on Instagram. The image features the temple’s pillars and a silhouette of a lone commando, evoking feelings of both reverence and courage. The accompanying caption highlights the theme of bravery and sacrifice: “An act of terror met with unmatched bravery, The story of courage, sacrifice, and survival comes alive in #AkshardhamOperationVajraShakti.”

Akshaye Khanna stars as Major Hanut Singh, a dedicated NSG officer. The cast also includes Gautam Rode as Major Samar, Vivek Dahiya as Captain Rohit Bagga, and Akshay Oberoi as Captain Bibek. Abhilash Chaudhary portrays the main antagonist, the terrorist Iqbal. The film also features support from actors like Parvin Dabas, Samir Soni, and Manjari Fadnis.

Produced by Abhimanyu Singh alongside Zee Studios and Contiloe Pictures, the film showcases skilled contributions from director of photography Tejal Shetye and editor Mukesh Thakur. The screenplay is crafted by William Borthwick and Simon Fantauzzo.

Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti serves as a standalone sequel to State of Siege: 26/11, focusing on the remarkable stories of India’s elite forces as they come to life on screen.
