Trump’s Remarks on India-Pakistan Tensions Generate Buzz

Recently, US President Donald Trump commented on the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. His comments, which referenced historical details inaccurately, have sparked considerable discussion online.

While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One before attending Pope Francis’s funeral, Trump said, “I am very close to India and I’m very close to Pakistan, and they’ve had that fight for a thousand years in Kashmir." He also expressed optimism about the situation, adding, “There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years… but I am sure they’ll figure it out one way or the other."

These remarks come in the wake of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 deaths and many injuries.

Trump’s statement has drawn mixed reactions on social media. One user noted, “1500 years ago, the Gupta Empire was ruling most of India, so there wasn’t anything like Pakistan or the current tensions.” Another user pointed out that India and Pakistan have only been separate countries for around 75 years.

Critics on social media found humor in Trump’s comments, with one user joking, “Kashmir problem arose in 2000 BC,” while another suggested Trump must have been influenced by misleading information.

In related news, following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that Pakistan is “ready to cooperate” with any international investigations into the incident. He emphasized the importance of avoiding any escalation of conflict, as it could lead to serious consequences for the region.
