Television actor Rohit Chandel, known for his role in the Star Plus show “Sairaab,” has been granted bail by a Mumbai Sessions Court in connection with a POCSO case filed against him. The allegations come from a 16-year-old girl who accused him of stalking, harassment, and assault.

According to reports, Judge Shashikala S. Nagur approved the bail request after Chandel’s lawyer, Saveen Bedi Sachar, noted that the investigation was complete and that the chargesheet had been filed. The court set Chandel’s bail at Rs 50,000, requiring him to provide a surety of the same amount.

As part of the bail conditions, the court has prohibited Chandel from contacting the victim or her family in any way, including phone calls or social media. He is also barred from threatening or tampering with the victim and any witnesses involved in the case. Furthermore, he cannot influence anyone related to the case to withhold information from the court.

Chandel was arrested after a minor filed a complaint stating that he had harassed her multiple times, despite her objections. The complaint led to the registration of an FIR under several sections of the POCSO Act, as well as relevant laws regarding stalking and physical assault.

Following his arrest at his home, Chandel was taken into judicial custody as the case was investigated. The Special POCSO Court managed the proceedings, which attracted significant media attention due to the serious nature of the charges against him, especially considering they involve a minor.

At the time of his arrest, Chandel was actively filming for “Sairaab.” However, after the incident, the production team replaced him with actor Krishna Kaul, who has since taken over his role. It remains uncertain whether Chandel will return to the show in the future.
