China and India Prepare for Leadership Meeting at BRICS Summit
Beijing, Sept. 11 — China and India are gearing up for a significant meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit, which will take place in New Delhi. A representative from the Chinese foreign ministry confirmed the plans on Friday.
This upcoming summit will be notable as it will mark the third consecutive year that Xi and Modi have met, following their discussions in Kazan and Tianjin in previous years.
The spokesperson, Mao Ning, expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with India. She emphasized the importance of both leaders providing strategic direction for their nations. By taking a long-term view on their relationship, they can strengthen communication and expand areas of cooperation. Mao also highlighted the need to address any differences between the two countries in a constructive manner, fostering a spirit of friendship and partnership for mutual success.
