Incredible Destinations I’ve Visited Around the World
Traveling has always been a passion of mine. Since my first solo trip to Hawaii in January 2016, I’ve been on an adventurous journey that has taken me to 86 countries. Now, nearly a decade later, I run my own travel blog, "No Man Nomad," where I document all the amazing places I’ve seen. Among these, I’ve discovered five unforgettable destinations that truly stand out.
1. Valle d’Aosta, Italy
Valle d’Aosta, nestled in the northwest corner of Italy, is a hidden gem that captivated me during my visit in September 2024. As the smallest region in Italy, it boasts breathtaking mountainous landscapes thanks to its proximity to Mont Blanc, which borders both Switzerland and France.
In the capital city, Aosta, also known as the "little Rome of the Alps," you can explore historical ruins like Porta Pretoria and Criptoportico Forense while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
2. Wānaka, New Zealand
New Zealand’s Wānaka left a lasting impression on me during my trip in early 2019. I embarked on a road trip from Queenstown to Aoraki/Mount Cook, and my stop in Wānaka was filled with beauty. I wandered through vibrant lavender fields, sampled local honey at the Lavender Farm, and hiked Roys Peak to see spectacular views from the top.
Every morning, I would sit by Lake Wānaka, sipping coffee and enjoying the serene view of the famous willow tree that stands alone in the water — a perfect escape for someone like me, who loves nature.
3. Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
In January 2023, while in Buenos Aires, I decided to take a quick ferry to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. This charming town is renowned for its beautiful white, stone, and pastel-colored buildings adorned with lush flowers. Its cobblestone streets create a picturesque scene perfect for casual strolls.
The historic quarter of Colonia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and highlights include the San Miguel Bastion, which offers lovely views of the sea, and the remnants of the San Francisco Convent, dating back to the 1690s.
4. Fish River Canyon, Namibia
During my travels through Africa, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Fish River Canyon in Namibia, the largest canyon on the continent and second only to the Grand Canyon worldwide. When I visited in April 2024, it was blissfully quiet, allowing me to take in the stunning views of the colorful gorge in peace. Sitting by the edge of the canyon, I felt completely awestruck by the natural beauty surrounding me.
5. Jeju Island, South Korea
In March 2019, I took an affordable flight to Jeju Island, where I marveled at the stunning rock formation known as Oedolgae. As I made my way there from my hostel, I crossed paths with several beautiful waterfalls and welcomed signs of the island’s blooming cherry blossoms. At Oedolgae, I watched waves crash against the volcanic rocks, a moment that highlighted the island’s breathtaking nature.
These destinations have enriched my travel experiences, reminding me of the beauty that exists in the world. Each location holds memories that I will cherish forever.
