Apple users in India are being urged to take action following an important security alert from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). This advisory points out serious vulnerabilities in various Apple products that could expose devices to hacking, data theft, or complete system takeover.
The government warning stresses that iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers that are running old software are particularly vulnerable. If these weaknesses are exploited, cybercriminals could gain access to personal data, control devices, crash systems, or get around crucial security barriers.
CERT-In detailed several software versions that are affected, which include older versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Safari, Xcode, tvOS, and visionOS. Users should be particularly mindful if they have the following versions:
– Safari versions earlier than 18.4
– Xcode versions before 16.3
– iOS/iPadOS versions prior to 18.4, 17.7.6, 16.7.11, or 15.8.4
– macOS Sequoia versions before 15.4, Sonoma prior to 14.7.5, and Ventura before 13.7.5
– tvOS versions earlier than 18.4
– visionOS versions earlier than 2.4
CERT-In warned that these vulnerabilities could allow attackers to access private information, run harmful code, bypass security measures, lead to service disruptions, and perform malicious activities on the affected systems.
In light of this situation, all users are strongly encouraged to update their devices immediately to the latest software versions. This proactive step is crucial for safeguarding Apple devices against potential threats and cyberattacks.
