In an exciting match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Mumbai Indians (MI) triumphed over the UP Warriorz by eight wickets, moving to the top of the points table in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a key role in this victory, earning the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance, which included a crucial half-century and three wickets.

The Warriorz, batting first after winning the toss, put up a total of 142 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Despite Sciver-Brunt claiming an important wicket by dismissing Kiran Navgire, an impressive 79-run partnership between Grace Harris and Vrinda Dinesh provided much-needed momentum for the Warriorz. Harris scored 45 runs off just 26 balls before she was caught off the bowling of Amelia Kerr, while Dinesh made a steady contribution of 33 runs.

However, after the dismissal of Harris, the Warriorz struggled to maintain their scoring pace, managing only 61 runs in the last 10.4 overs. Sciver-Brunt was the standout bowler for MI, finishing with impressive figures of 3 wickets for just 18 runs in her four overs. Shabnim Ismail also had a good outing with two wickets, while Sanskriti Gupta and Amelia Kerr took one each.

As MI began their chase, they lost early wicket Yastika Bhatia to Deepti Sharma, but Sciver-Brunt teamed up with West Indies captain Hayley Matthews to turn the game around. The duo put on a remarkable 133-run partnership that significantly steadied MI’s innings. Matthews scored 59 runs off 50 balls before being dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone.

Sciver-Brunt remained focused and led MI to victory, finishing the match with an unbeaten 75 runs off only 44 balls, including 13 boundaries. Harmanpreet Kaur sealed the win with a boundary off Ecclestone, leading MI to the top of the table and marking a significant win as they overthrew the Delhi Capitals from their leading position.
